The Forum will take place in Moscow on 13–15 October 2021 at the Manezh Central Exhibition Hall. The international climate agenda is forcing many countries to reform their carbon-based energy systems. The transition to low greenhouse gas emission projects represents a significant challenge forRussia, which has a leading position in global hydrocarbon markets. Still, it also opens up new opportunities for economic growth based on renewable energy, hydrogen technologies, deep processing of raw materials and implementation of "green" projects. This new reality has already led to the involvement of many major Russian energy companies in the implementation of such projects, which will not only contribute to global sustainable development but will also improve their image and enhance the trust of their partners. At the same time, reducing the carbon footprint of the fuel and energy sector requires large-scale investment.

"In a long-term development strategy, decarbonization is key for companies to remain competitive on global markets. Reduction of greenhouse gas emissions should be achieved not only by developing renewable energy sources but also by improving the energy efficiency of existing production facilities and introducing modern technological solutions that capture carbon and keep it out of the environment," said Denis Deryushkin, Deputy General Director and Head of Analytical Center, Russian Energy Agency of the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation

Participants of the session "The Russian Fuel and Energy Sector in a Time of Transition" will discuss how the energy transition may affect the development of the Russian fuel and energy sector, whether the government can help to create incentives for expanding ESG business practices, as well as assess the level of industry players' involvement in the green finance market.

Russian Energy Week 2021 is organized by the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation, the Roscongress Foundation and the Moscow City Government.

The Roscongress Foundation is a socially oriented non-financial development institution and a major organizer of international conventions; exhibitions; and business, public, sporting, and cultural events. It was established in pursuance of a decision by the President of the Russian Federation.

The Foundation was established in 2007 with the aim of facilitating the development of Russia’s economic potential, promoting its national interests, and strengthening the country’s image. One of the roles of the Foundation is to comprehensively evaluate, analyse, and cover issues on the Russian and global economic agendas. It also offers administrative services, provides promotional support for business projects and attracting investment, and helps foster social entrepreneurship and charitable initiatives.

Each year, the Foundation’s events draw participants from 208 countries and territories, with more than 15,000 media representatives working on-site at Roscongress’ various venues. The Foundation benefits from analytical and professional expertise provided by 5000 people working in Russia and abroad. In addition, it works in close cooperation with 160 economic partners; industrialists’ and entrepreneurs’ unions; and financial, trade, and business associations from 75 countries worldwide.
